Dr Tat-Hon CHAN, Founder and Managing Director
Tat Hon is a firm believer in the potential of travel to bless, that travel can be more than just leisure. His passion to want to enable travellers to have more opportunities to bless the communities that they visit led to the set up of TakeMeToVolunteerTravel.com. Tat Hon travelled widely as part of his job and on holidays with his wife Janice and their two lovely children, Ryan and Clarice. A qualified medical doctor, Tat Hon practised medicine for a number of years before the adventurous streak in him saw him leaving medical practice to join the Singapore Economic Development Board, spending a number of years as their Centre Director in London. He and his family remembers their 3 year stay in London fondly. He later went on to be an Assistant Chief Executive with the Singapore Tourism Board before the call of adventure came again to start up TakeMeToAsia, the Singapore-based Asian online travel specialist operating TakeMeToVolunteerTravel.com.
Tat Hon says:
“We as a company strongly advocate meaningful travel. People around the world know volunteer travel by many different names, including voluntourism, volunteer vacations, volunteer abroad programmes, gap year volunteering, volunteer holidays or volunteer tours. Regardless of what it is called, Volunteer Travel has tremendous potential to be a blessing to both the travellers as well as the communities that we bring travelers to. And as an Asian company based in Singapore, we are well placed to bring meaningful programs in Asia, starting with Cambodia, Thailand, India, China, Philippines, Laos and Singapore to travellers who aspire for the something different, something more meaningful.”
